Today, Paris 2024 reveals its new faceWhen we bid to host the Games, we knew that our emblem had to radically set us apart from the other candidate cities. We wanted it to be, at once, globally recognisable, characteristic of Paris and able to project a positive image of France. These are the reasons why our bid emblem was largely inspired by the Eiffel Tower, the archetypal symbol of our heritage. The challenges facing us today are different. And with Tokyo 2020 set to hand the flame over to Paris 2024 in a few months’ time, we decided to choose an emblem that projects our vision for these Games.It is made up of three simple yet powerful symbols: the gold medal, a symbol of sport; the flame, an icon of the Olympic and Paralympic Movement; and Marianne, a symbol representative of France.These symbols reveal a face that embodies our ambition to put people at the heart of the Games; Games that are more open, more participative and more inclusive; Games in which everyone can play a role, where the spectator is also a participant; and Games to experience emotions together, be proud together, and create a lasting impression in people’s memories and lives. This new emblem will be an integral part of our story over the next five years. For the first time in the history of the Games, our emblem will be common to the Olympic and the Paralympic Games, because we are undertaking these two challenges with the same passion, the same determination and the same ambition.THREEASYMBOLSNEWFACE
