We are ready to stage the first Paralympic Summer Games to be held in France. Our ambition is to organise a spectacular celebration that will inspire the world and break down barriers for the benefit of people with a disability. It all starts with an important piece of symbolism: for the first time in Games history, Paris 2024 has adopted the same emblem for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This single emblem demonstrates our desire to treat both parts of our project with the same passion, ambition and expectation. In practical terms, our ambition is reflected in the competition venues, with the same iconic sites for both Olympic and Paralympic sports: the Eiffel Tower for Blind Football, the Grand Palais for Wheelchair Fencing and Para Taekwondo, Les Invalides for Para Archery, and the Château de Versailles for Para Equestrian. The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will shine a spotlight on Paralympians’ performances like never before. All our Olympic and Paralympic competition and event venues will be accessible to disabled people. Finally, our ambition is demonstrated by the showcasing of Para sports and the inclusion of all types of disability in our legacy and engagement programmes, in particular the Terre de Jeux 2024 label, which has already been awarded to more than 4,000 local and regional authorities and sports stakeholders, the Paris 2024 Club, which boasts over 4 million members, and the Paris 2024 endowment fund, which supports projects linked to the social impact of sport. Every year, we take Olympic and Paralympic Week into schools, with 95% of projects in the 2023 edition designed to raise children’s awareness of disability and Para sports. By engaging the entire sports movement and all Paris 2024 public and private stakeholders, the Games will help to promote universal accessibility as well as the inclusion, workplace integration and sports participation of people with a disability. Everything is in place to make this ambition a reality, together with our belief that sport can change lives.
